Special Olympics team competing in Seminole at Special Olympics Area Games
On October 21st Inspire Equine Therapy Program celebrated a year since opening their services to the local community with a Boot Scootin Barn Dance fundraiser. The tickets went on sale two months prior to the event via their website and Facebook page. The ticket purchase included an amazing barbeque dinner from Holy Hog Catering, music from Suncoast Sounds, dancing, dessert, visiting the therapy horses, bidding on great silent auction items, enjoying the beautiful grounds, meeting everyone at Inspire and hearing some of the amazing participant success stories. The weather was absolutely perfect as the guests arrived in their casual western attire for the 6pm to 9pm festivities.
The celebration began with Lauren St Germaine from ABC News, Master of Ceremonies welcoming and thanking everyone who paid for their seats or did a sponsorship and for supporting such an amazing organization. Christine Gagnon, Founder/Owner of Creek Under the Son Stables delivered a heartwarming testimony of how her vision and Melissa Yarbrough’s dream came together. Those who attended where very inspired by the location, facility, horses, volunteer staff, volunteers and most of all the services that are offered to teens/adults with a disability and disabled veterans. Kyle Travers who is a participant at Inspire, gave a personal testimony of his life with challenges and how equine therapy has made the difference in his life. He received a standing ovation. There were other participants that attended that enjoyed the evening and meeting new people. Everyone is looking forward to next year’s event.
Many thanks to all the vendors and independent donations for the 62 silent auction that made the night interesting, fun and financially helpful for Inspire. Huge thank you to sponsors May Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, Les and Judy Foundation, Linda and Robert Tiller, and Ameriprise Financial Planners Collin Soule and Kerri Buchman. Thank you to Publix for donating towards our dessert table, to Bug free Backyards for keeping bugs away, to The Camera Crew LLC for coming and taking pictures of our event. Another huge thank you goes to all of the volunteers and planners of this event as a lot of hard work was done by all from beginning to end and then some. Thanks to all the sponsors and silent auction purchases, Inspire made $9789.67 after expenses. This money will go towards participant scholarships. Inspire is still fundraising for the purchase of a truck and horse trailer for the program to be able to participate in local competitions like Special Olympics and Challenge shows along with having the ability to evacuate the horses if another hurricane comes toward the Tampa Bay area. If interested in donating a truck please contact Melissa Yarbrough, Executive Director.
Inspire Equine Therapy has been operating at Creek Under the Son Stables, located in the heart of Clearwater, Florida. Inspire is a non-profit and everyone volunteers, including Melissa, our executive director. The location is such an asset for a program such as this in the Clearwater area as many that benefit from equine therapy have a disability or are disabled and would have to travel a distance to other comparable facilities.
Please contact Melissa if you are interested in any of the services for participants or personal or corporate sponsorships. Certain sponsorship levels may be eligible to attend next year’s event automatically or may have other benefits.
Inspire Equine Therapy Program is a non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. All donations to the Inspire Equine Therapy Program are deductible. The programs tax identification number is 81-3960240.
